How do I digitally record my music at home?

• I am a teen singer/songwriter and all my friends have been wanting me to record my music so they can have it on their ipod. I was hoping to just do it as an unplugged CD because I think it'd be easier to just record the way I usually play it (acoustic). What supplies do I need to record my music digitally? How much money should I save up? What do you recommend? And how can I be confident that the supplies I get are going to benefit me with a clear quality? I'm not looking for a total "in the studio" professional sound, I know that would be expensive and I am only 16-It'd be hard to come up with all that money within the next few weeks. I would just like to know how I can record my music digitally and not have it all fuzzy and hard to hear. I appriciate your answers :]

  if you have a computer, then you already have a digital audio recorder. you only need 2 more items. 1. for recording software, download "Audacity". it is free and will also edit audio files. 2. you need a simple mic to plug into the sound card, less than $10 at radio shack. that gets you started. and with the files in the computer, it is easy to burn CD demo copies to hand out.
