How does Low income apartments work?

Will the rental people for low income housing find out im receiving child support?

  • -I am looking to move into a new apartment. I'm a single mother with two children, however, I only receive child support for one of them. All of the decent apartments are income restricted. When they include the child support it makes me over by literally $200.00...and they won't budge on the decision...they always tell me I make too much money. I think the whole thing is ridiculous. There are only a few places that do not have income restrictions...however, they are way out of my price range. I would not be able to afford them each month. I recently found a very nice complex with nice townhomes. I filled out the application but indicated that I DID NOT receive child support. My work income, rental information, etc. is correct. I am waiting on their decision now as they have sent my information to their compliance office for approval. My question is will they be able to verify that I DO receive child support? How would they know? I know it's not the best thing to do as far as lying on the application but I'm struggling with two children. I can't afford the other apartments. And where I am now is income restricted, however, when I moved here I was within the their guidelines and now I'm not.

  • Answer:

Whats going to happen to those kids when you are in prison? Welfare fraud isa felony, you will serve time for this. The housing is subsidized, and since the tax payers are supporting you HUD requires that you receive child support. You will need a letter from your states child support agency that you are not receiving support.

What you have done is fraud, and you can go to prison for that. You would lose both your children. At the very least, you will have to repay any and all benefits you received with interest and penalties. If you claim inability to pay, you will go to prison. Yes, they can and will find out that you get child support. Whether or not it is court ordered! Withdraw your application immediately and pray they do not pursue it - or you.

Let's see... what are the chances one state entity - housing assistance - will EVER contact another - DCFS - to see if you get child support for your two kids? Probably 100%. Benefits fraud. A crime. You'll owe back ALL money received. You cold conceivably go to jail.
