Someone posted one of my properties for lease on craigslist - how can I make them take it down?

When I was looking for an apt., I found scams on Craigslist. I always sent an email to the scammer giving them hell, but other people would enter a posting in all caps with features that would filter their entry out along with the scam entry, and in the lead line they would enter the words: Scam posting. Until you hear back from Craigslist, you can do something like this, too. Another thing you can do is contact a lawyer, and threaten both Craigslist and the scammer. But do enter a posting that says Apt. $600, posting #0000000000. SCAM! SCAM! I own this property and it is not for lease! That should turn off his spigot.

All you can do is report it to Craigs List. Are you the owner, property manager or real estate agent trying to sell the place? I guess you could also fight fire with fire since Craigs List is free and post your own ad that the ad for the house at xxxx address is fraudulent. Where does the scammer want you to send the application? Is it overseas? If there was a way to find the scammer, you could possibly bring charges against them.

In addition to notifying Craigslist that the ad is a scam, you can post an ad mentioning the listing number and tell people not to contact the poster because it is a fake ad.
