How to start live alone without parents?

  • Hello, I have question about how to start live alone without parents? 1. If I am 18 years old EU union citizen (non British) and full time student in one of Birmingham college does somebody from Birmingham council will pay for my small property like for sharing room,flat or house? 2. Maybe I can apply for a job seeker allowance before I get a job to pay for property? 3. Perhaps you can tell me any websites where I can find information about how to find STUDENT people who would like share room or property with others in Birmingham? (I find only university people, but perhaps it's the same like college people ?) 4. It’s any sharing room without council tax and bills to pay less? Maybe you have any other experience suggestion about my question ? Thank you, Have a nice day!

    Your college should have a student counsellor or welfare officer who can help you with accommodation queries. Full time students don't qualify for housing allowance or job seekers allowance.

You may find that this type of quetion gets asked a lot by students at the college you are thinking of, and the college will have the most up to date information for you, i would try and contact them and see what help they can give. they will at least know where to go for the answers even if they cannot help themselves.

I want to do exactly the same, but I got the same problem as you. Full time student and haven't got enough money to rent my own house/flat and I can't live with my parents any more, that's for sure. I will appreciate as well if someone will give any good answer.

in the US we do it often [as i did] by joining the military. When I survived a dangerous disease, I felt I could do anything. I have tried a few of those non harmful anythings and became a teacher, consultant and writer. you just take your families culture and use those parts that seem right for you and the rest, you use trial and error on. With luck, there will be more successes than "other."
