How much is electricity?

Approximately how much would the electricity & water bill be monthly. If it's a small back house 1 person?

  • I live in a property with two houses and the one i live in is ridiculously small. The living room, kitchen, and bathroom are together in one room. The walk way to the 2 rooms is no more then 4 feet long and wide. I own 1 television, 1 electric stove(which i use once a day, maybe!), 1 refrigerator, and no microwave. I never leave anything at all on and i feel like i am paying too much for my bills. The person who lives in the bigger house is paying a total rent of 1700-1800 dollars a month. Our rent is not separated from her's because it is together as well as the electricity and water bill. She has a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, and two story house with 5 adults and 1 child. I am paying 600 for rent and 100 for the electricity and water bill. Is 100 dollars electricity and water fair for how i am living?

  • Answer:

You should be able to call the electricity company and ask for average use costs for houses the size of yours... if not there may be forums specific to your location, or start asking around! When your lease comes up for renewal ask your landlord to pay for a separate meter... it is an improvement to his or her property.

Other answers

I would ask to get a separate bill, maybe call the utility company and see what they can do. 100 a month maybe a little high but not by much. Do you have central heating and a/c or window units do you have a hot water heater
