What are the new opportunities when you move?

Looking to Move! Where is the most affordable housing, in warmer climate with job opportunities?

  • I live in Michigan and my current lease is up at the end of September. I am sick and tiered of living in MI where its colder than all helz and there are no jobs. I am not picky, I'll work anything from daycare to bar to janitor, all I need is a paycheck that will pay the bills and leave a lil extra for the savings account. I want to move someplace with a slighlty warmer climate....well someplace where there isn't snow on the ground for 8 months of the year. And the housing has to be affordable, I'm talking no more than $600/month. I don't have a car so would need a place with public transportation. Please give me any idea's so I can start lookin'.

    Texas is great. Hosuton, Austin, and Dallas hev lots of business and low housing costs. Austin is the most mild of all three. Houston is VERY hot in the summer. Dallas gets some snow and ice, but nothing like Michigan.

There are several western cities that are warmer, but at $600 a month, you are not getting much. If anything. Cities I know that are public transportation friendly: Seattle Las Vegas SF Portland Salt Lake City Boise

no car or other engine driven transportation makes this very difficult. best combination of jobs and public transportation is probably Washington, DC, followed by NYC. Neither has cheap housing, however. In fact, most big cities don't have cheap housing and the ones that are less expensive seem to have poorer job prospects. Off hand, I'd guess Texas excluding San Antonio.
