How to rent a house?

Can i move out and rent a house at 17? And how much would it cost for 3 people to live in a 3 bedroom house ?

• I live in NSW Australia and im 17. i was curious to know if it was likely to rent and share a house with 2 others who are also 17 ? how much it would cost for electricity/water/gas bills each month ? ( we are out of the house all day ) how much it would cost for food for the 3 of us each week or month ? and if we are entitled to any sort of money ? or rent assistance ? thanks.

  at 17 you cannot sign a lease agreement. if the people you want to live with are 18 or older they will have to go on the lease and you pay them rent. depends what are in nsw. im in vic and average price for 3 bedroom is between 250 and 450 a week. just depends on where. me and my partner plus 2 kids spend about 200 a week on food. in total our utility bills are are about 50 dollars a week. until you turn 18 you will be entitled to living away from home allowance. depending on your circumstances its about 370 a fortnight. the maximum amount of rent assistance is around 100 a fortnight. you need to have proof of what you pay and who to though. you will have to wait until at least one of you is 18 though to sign a lease and it is hard to get into the rental market. we are a young family, my partner has a good job and we dont live near the city and it still took us months to get this house. sorry forgot after you turn 18 you will get new start allowance which is only 200 ish a fortnight if your not working and you will have to either attend a job net work agency or be enrolled in some kind of study
