how much can i pay for rent if i make $60,000 a year? The apts in my area all cost $1,500 a month and up. What's the max I should spend on rent (excluding utility, which is even more...) a month so I don't go bankrupt?

Answer:
They say you can spend 1/3 of your income on rent/house payment and in your case that would be about $1,600 a month. That would not include utilities so you need to figure that in. You really need to find out how much you actually bring home and then figure it out from there.
