Being a Guarantor For Renting?

I signed as guarantor on my friends 3 month apartment lease. She needs a guarantor again soon. Any ideas?

  • Her 3 month lease is almost up. In order for her to stay in her apartment she needs to find someone willing to assume the risk of signing another 3 month lease as her guarantor. I cannot sign again as her guarantor due to a lack of funds. Her monthly rent is $1,165. She makes over $2,500 a month at her job but she gets paid under the table and has only been working there 2 months. Therefore she does not qualify on her own to continue renting there. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone willing to assume the risk? I'm sure she would be willing to compensate you monetarily. THIS IS IN TEMECULA CALIFORNIA. Thank you.

  • Answer:

don't do it, you are at too much risk. if she paid her rent on time, her landlord should let her do it on her own. it would be better to chance it on her than have a vacant apartment. also that's the problem with under the table work , along with no benefits.
