How To Pay Water Bill Online In Mumbai?

No bill to pay water bill and they want to cut my water off.?

  • Would anyone know who I can call and talk to or if anyone knows someone that I can call and talk to on some advise on my rights that I am having with the community I am renting from. I pay lot rent to a community that put a notice on my door last night stating that I have to pay them $432 on water that I owe or they will cut my water off tomorrow. The issue is, up until May of this year I didn't know that I had to pay water and was never told how much I had to pay a month on water. I sent them a certified letter requesting that they send me a itimized bill showing how much water was suppsed to have been paid each month as well as a monthly bill so I can "get the account caught up as well as how much I am supposed to pay each month, because I was never told I had to pay water each month nor given an amount to pay each month. Its been 3 months and I have yet to receive that itimized bill or a monthly bill of how much I have to pay, now because there is new management I am being told I pay the said amount or they will cut my water off. They still didn't add in there how much I am supposed to pay each month. How am I supposed to pay something each month if they won't even tell me how much I am supposed to pay? So I need direction of where I can go to get more information of what my rights are. Can anyone help me?

  • Answer:

Not receiving a bills IS NEVER A LEGAL DEFENSE for not paying a bill. Water is like electricity or gas..you have to pay it monthly. Unless you are fresh out of high school, you should know this. You need to call the water place and get them to set up a payment arrangement. They WILL cut your water off if you don't pay. You can send all the certified letters that you want...get up off your butt and drive down there.

Wow that is a lot of money for a 4 month water bill. We pay about $30 a month and am renting in a community too. On our lease it says we needed to pay the water bill but it had to be put in our name before we moved in. If you needed did this how can you owe anything? The water must be in the associations name or who you are renting from. Contact them and ask what is going on.

Sounds like you are renting, correct? This should be in your contract you signed on renting your place. If it is not -go to your landlord and tell them what is going on and they should be able to help you out. Take your contract with you so you can compare what you have with what they have -just in case there are any discrepancies in contracts. Then contact the water company and tell them what you found out and I am sure they will work with you on getting this matter taken care of. As it looks to them right now -you're not paying and have no intention of paying. It isn't true -but they don't know that. You should have been told upfront by your landlord what you are expected to pay. They should show you an itemized bill -I don't know why they haven't done that. But definitely contact your landlord ASAP and compare contracts and find out what you can through them and see if they can help you out by contacting the water company for you if you can't get through to them. If not -go in personally to talk face to face with your water company and tell them what is going on and show them your contact and if it is in your contract just tell them it was a slip up and you missed that and thought it was part of your rental pay. But your first move should be check your contact out that you signed. EVERYTHING should be in black and white there. If it is not listed as part of your rent then you owe it -if it says it is separate then you owe it -if it says it is included then you DO NOT owe it. The high amount is probably fees added for not paying.... and interest. Be sure you get on this ASAP so you don't encrue anymore fees in case you do owe it. That would suck. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

How about asking one of your neighbors to give you the name of the water company and the telephone number. Call them up and apply for the service to be put into your name. If you have known since May that you owed a bill and haven't paid in three months, it sounds to me like they are patient. It is probably in your lease agreement about who you pay for water. I don't think you need to drive anywhere to find out how much you owe. A phone call should work. Try with the notice that was on your door.

Try the state Public Utility comission office. They are still a utility operating inside the state; they have a responsibility to the state PUC. Again; start there.
