Private student loan and no in-school deferment- What do I do?

  • Hi everyone I took out a private student loan when I went to school and they have zero deferment options(called and emailed). I've returned back to school and I work part-time to pay this monthly bill along with a few others. I'd really like to commit more of my efforts towards school. Is there any way to replace this private loan with a federal student loan? Or a loan with in-school deferment? Where would I go to get this done or more info on this? Thank you!

    No, there is no way to convert your present loan to a federally subsidized student loan. You're just stuck with that. If you want to return to school, you can apply for financial assistance and see if you qualify for federally subsidized student aid. Here is where you go to apply.
