How do I get credit for credit cards?

How can I get my controling abusive EX Fiance to pay off our Credit Cards?

• My situation is that I was with my EX for 4 years, 3 out of the 4 he was abusive toward me. We also have a one year old daughter. About 2 weeks ago, he almost killed me, so I took my daughter and left, and I am now staying at my mothers house. Three months ago we purchased a house (which was only in his name) and majority of the Credit Cards were in my name but I added him as an authorized user. So right now on the cards that I am the primary card holder we have about $14,000 charged on them from expenses when we were buying furniture for the house and things like that. My EX has called me multiple times trying to reconcile but I didnt believe he has changed. So now I am basically left with nothing and I am trying to rebuild my life.... but its going to be very difficult to do so if my credit gets ruined. I currently am looking for work but have not found anything. He has asked me if our daughter needed anything but I told him I can handle taking care of her I would just appreciate it if he paid the cards off. His response was that I left him with a lot of bills and that hes going to do what he can. However he makes about $3000 a week. I know that he is mad at me for not running back to him. So now I just dont know what to do. Also we recently bought a 2003 F150 in good condition. The blue book on it is $12,000. That vehicle is paid for and is only in my name. So what I was thinking was if he refuses to pay the cards I would hire a repo man to get the truck and then I could sell it. I really dont want to involve the police because we do have a daughter together. So any advice would be greatly appreciated...sorry it was so long.

  Get a lawyer. Now! If he has money and the situation is as you describe, a good lawyer will make him pay for everything and the courts will demand that things be divided up more or less fairly. If you try to do it on your own...or default to allowing him to have all the control, you will end up in very, very bad shape.
