Where can I get a job at 14?

Where can a 14 year old get a REAL job?

  • hey, well i am 14 and i want a job. i know you need a work permit, school approval, bla bla. i am not worried about that stuff. but i have not been getting luck...like the mcdonalds manager i spoke to on the phone was REALLY rude. He said they were having walk in interviews in 2 weeks. He said you have to be 16. so i said "Oh so i can't do the interview if i am 14?" He said You can. i got happy and i was like "Wow than-" and he cut me off and said haha i just won't hire you. dumbazz. Okay so i have good grades and stuff. What places should I try next? BQ: Why are some managers SO RUDE and think that 14 year olds can't do work? the law is 14 but a lot of places have their own requirements which makes me mad i live in WA state so the law says i have to be 14 with a permit

You're going to have to look in a LOT of places. Most places look for anyone who is 16 and above. And you can't argue with the company about any age requirements, and telling them at 14 is the minimum age probably won't help either. Id say just wait a couple more years, fake your age (if you look old enough to be 16) or keep looking. Doing jobs for your neighbors may not bring out a ton of money, but its a start.

I got hired at a golf course when I was 13. Try that or news paper boy, yes they still have them.
