If I apply for disability will I get it?

I get Incapacity Benefitand disability living allowance.If I live with my g/f will it affect my money I get?

I'm worries the money I get could get lowered to a less amount of what I get at the moment.My girl friend wants to do a joint housing benifit claim together and the money coming out of my bank account.Would this also affect my money I get in any way??

    Incapacity Benefit and DLA are not means tested and therefore do not get affected by any other people's circumstances in the household. However Housing Benefit and Council tax benefit are means tested, so she will need to inform the council if you move in, however to my knowledge those two benefits are not considered when calculating means tested benefits as they are meant to defray the additional costs of being disabled, not cover your day to day living costs. The best advice is to contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau or advocacy centre, they will be au fait with your local council's regulations.

Only income based benefits, however, you would not need 2 lots of housing benefit would you. HB pays the rent not the bills, so you will both get enough HB to cover the rent (enough for a couple living in a 1 bed flat) What bank account you have the money is, does not affect the amount of money you get, but doing a joint claim will as I said above, as you do not have 2 lots of rent to be paid. You will actually save money by moving in with each other. You can do a benefits check on the website called turn2us.org or call your local council.

What's the point?
