How do you become Eligible Unemployment Benefits?

• I thought that if you lose you job at a company & their unable to place you at another job, or if your disabled & can't work at all, & a few other reason I can't think of, now my cousin told me that I'm right but he also said that if the person has never had a job before they could still get Unemployment benefits now I told him that only if they had a good reason for never working before but he said no they just could have never worked before & we stared going back & forth so I wanted to ask someone who knows more about Unemployment Benefits. Can you get a check just for being lazy?

  The amount of unemployment is based on your wages over the last 12 to 18 months (varies a bit by state). If you weren't working for two years, then get a job for 1 month and get laid off - if they actually don't toss out your claim, the amount you'd be entitled to would be a couple dollars.
