What does an "Open Order" mean on Amazon.com?

Does this mean my order was cancelled?

  • Okay, last week I ordered something from an online vendor with my debit card. A preauthorized charge was placed on my account. Okay no problem. I called Monday to check on my order and they said that I should receive my order March 4. I am like okay. I checked on my bank account and the preauthorized charge or debit for my order with this company. I will call the company to check today when the CS phone line opens, however does that mean that my order was cancelled or something. Or did the bank just not update my account. Normally when they do the preauthorized amount they do a debit, then a credit back onto the account. I was just wondering.

  • Answer:

Your account is not debited by the online company until the product is sent. If there is a problem such as out of stock and on back order the monies would still be in your account Be patient.
