    I am retired now but at the end of my working life part of my work was interviewing prospective employees. We generally recruited juniors to train them and if their Resume included voluntary work or a part-time job with a multinational such as McDonald's, they usually reached the next stage of being interviewed. A referral from someone within the Company also carried some weight but the main thrust was always scholastic ability, good attendance and voluntary/casual work.

aplly for maccas and safeway, i got interviews to both when i was 16 and chose safeway, they like hiring younger people, so if your 18 or 19 its gonna be tricky.
