Can I temporarily change my savings account to a checkings account?
-
I've opened an ING Direct account, and to link myself with it I need a "checkings account" I'm a student, so I can't afford a checkings account on a full-time basis. Do you think I could change my account into a checkings account to send ING Direct the initial deposit, then back into a savings account so I don't have to deal with the fees? Thanks in advance.

No, of course not. Checking and savings accounts are two completely different types of accounts. You could withdraw some of the money in your savings account and open a checking account with it if you want to. There are banks that don't charge fees for checking, especially for students. Even better would be your local credit union. See if you can open a checking account there.
