  • so i am 11 years old but i look like im about 13 or 14 years old and im about 5 ft 7 :) i really want to get a part time job but how?????????????????????????????????? is it considered like, child labour for a child of a certain age to be working like, i just want to be like, a waitress or just work at the counter of like, a cake shop or some thing so plzzzz what do i do :) my dads parents used to own a cake shop (closed down few years ago) and he started working there when he was like 9 or 10 (just folding cake boxes lol) but they would pay him. just want to get a little bit of money so wadda i do plz help THANKSSSSSS!

    You can work for a family owned business, but unlikely any other business would want to take a chance. Their insurance probably does not allow them to hire you.

Which country are you in? If you are in Australia it is illegal to employ anyone under the age of 14 years, this varies slightly from State to State. It really doesn't matter how old you look when you need to provide your date of birth and tax file number to your employer.

To get a real job you need to provide social security number, and proof that you are of legal age to work, which is 16.
