Can I file for unemployment if I'm 18?

• I'm 18 and was just laid off from Dell. I had been working there for about a month and a half, and I worked at Little Caesars for about a month before that. I live in Texas, and I was trying to look up some information about unemployment, but it all just seems so complicated. From what I understand, I can't collect on it, because I wasn't working there long enough? I'm not sure. Any help/advice would be much appreciated. Also, if you happen to know how much I would be able to collect weekly? I'm only 18, so of course I don't have many bills to pay, but I still have some, plus rent. I made $10.45 an hour at Dell. From what I've heard, you only collect a certain amount of what your weekly paychecks were? I'd also heard that you would just get paid for 40 hours a week at whatever your pay was. A little more insight on this would be appreciated as well.

  It's not just your age that is the problem. You have to have enough income in the base period. Looking back at the base period (7/1/2010 to 6/30/2011), did you have any income at all? You have to make 37 weeks of pay during that time period to qualify. You don't have that. If you did, you might have qualified for 50% of your pay.
