How can I apply for real government grants?

Does anyone know about the government grants and how to apply for one?

    The gov doesn't just give out free money. You have to have a reason to get a grant, like if you are trying to build a better battery or find a cure to a disease.

Possum already gave you the correct answer but if you need to read it at the official site that deals with the government grants: http://www.grants.gov/ go straight there and read the second paragraph.... the one about the fact that if you need money to cover your own financial needs... you are at the wrong place.

The only site that has legitimate grants and will not try to charge you a fee is grants.gov Having said that, the likelihood of you getting a grant are slim to none. Most grants for personal use are to go to college.

Get a real job, find money from an investor. Government grants have only one source of funding, other citizens.

Contrary to what some websites and infomercials want you to believe, the government does not give out money to individuals to pay debts, pay bills, start a business or do just about anything else. The only grants that the average person can get are Pell Grants for college tuition.
