How do i get my money from a court blocked account?

  • i went to the bank to take out my money and close the account but they said that i needed my dad but im 18 don't i have authorization. on the statement it has my name followed by minor and under it it says my dads name followed by trustee and under his name it says court blocked account. If anyone has gone through this please HELP

  • Answer:

If your father is trustee then it is NOT your money to take out. Your father has complete and sole control of the account.

"court blocked" means blocked by a court order. That order would have to be lifted first.

in this case you will probably have to go to court if your dad won't release the account. it isn't the banks fault, they would have no idea why your dad is the trustee.

speak to a solicitor or the citizens advice as to how you can unlock the funds. If your dad is a trustee it may be that you cannot access it until you are 21 without court approval. ask dad what is the problem it could save you the cost of a lawyer.

If it's court blocked, it means that someone owes money to someone and that someone has obtained a court order to prevent the account from being depleted or closed. This usually remains in effect until the disputing parties settle. Then the owner of the account can obtain a court release.
