Does Wells Fargo resubmit a nsf check?

  • I wrote a check to my landlord, who banks with Wells Fargo. I don't know why, but I saw an NSF check fee in my account today for that check. The money is there plus extra, and was there the day the check was presented. I'm trying to find out what happened with my bank, but in the meantime, I want to know if her Wells Fargo will put the check through again. I want her to be paid, but i'm afraid that if i withdraw the money to give her cash they will resubmit the check and bounce it again. Any Wells Fargo account holders or employees know the answer to this? And please no lectures on financial responsibility. The money was there when I gave her the check, plus more and is still there. Something happened on my banks end.

  • Answer:

Well, it what you say is true, then WF screwed up and should refund your NSF fee and your LL's NSF fee. Then you can either have the LL resubmit the check, you can write a new check (better) or you can get cash from your bank and pay the LL directly. Your LL also suffered an NSF fee for depositing a faulty check. Banks make a killing on NSF checks; about $80 per check; 1/2 from the check writer and 1/2 from the depositor.
