UK pay pal... How does this effect my credit rating what can pay pal DO?HELP!?

Hi I owe pay pal money... £600 I sold a laptop before i went on holiday like an idiot i wrote that i was going away... The buyer put in a dispute after 58days and claimed his money back.. Ive wrote to EVERYONE pay pal and eBay did everything i could. Went to the police i did Eveyrthing i could. Its been going on for 1year and now i got a debt collection agency asking for the money. I refuse to pay.. WHAT CAN PAY PAL DO? CAN THEY EFFECT MY CREDIT RATING? PLEASE HELP IM REALLY WORRIED
