Where is the document number on a passport card?

How can someone with a student visa cash a check in the US with no SS Card (have a number) w/ an intl passport?

• I work with a student from Ghana and she has a social security number (the card is god knows where in the mail), and a passport, but she can't find anywhere to get her money from her paychecks... Banks won't open an account without an id and even a place like walmart will only cash the check if she has an American drivers license or an American passport... Does anyone know how she can turn her worthless paychecks into real american funds????

  check cashing places will do this -- and they'll want proof of where she lives. otherwise, she needs a friend with an account who'll help out -- OR -- to present the paychecks at the bank where they are drawn. That bank has a legal obligation to cash checks as long as the payee [your friend] is provably the person they are made out to.
