How do you apply for a government grant?

Where can you go on line to apply for a government grant with out being charged for it?

  • My husband was laid off recently and I've been unable to work foo about 5 years, and I have heard that the government gives grants to people who need help with thier bills, and things for thier house. Like insulating, roof repairs and just being able to get by until his job starts again! But every time I get an email about the grant s they end up wanting a fee to show you how to obtain one. If I had money for that I wouldnt be looking for a grant in the first place. Is there not a place on the internet where I can get some legit help applying for a grant, without the fee??? Help please!!!

    What you heard is B.S. There are no "personal grants" from the government. Look around your local community for church or charitable groups. Has your husband filed for unemployment benefits?

we have not seen any grants for almost 15 years. Most cities and counties now have "bond money" that was raised from the sale of bonds. You get the money but you must pay it back. You apply in person at city hall..

Visit http://www.govbenefits.gov Choose the life situation best applicable to you and then see if you qualify for the available government assistance. Forget grant money - there's hardly any money for individuals. Go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. But you'd be hard pressed to find any grant that would support individuals.
