How to avoid spending my money?

  • I have $150 dollars saved up and my birthday is next week so I will have at least $200. I am saving up for an electric piano for $600 dollars, but I tend to begin splurging my money when I reach the $200 mark and never even make it to $300! This money is all the money I earn from work and holidays so when I spend it, it takes a LONG time to make the money back (I'm a teenager). Along with a piano, I also really want an xbox 360. I fear that I will end up spending my money on the xbox360 and be back to square one with my money! I want to save up for the piano SO badly. This electric piano is all I've wanted since I was 4 (I'm not kidding) because it's the closest thing I can get to a real piano, but somehow I still always waste my money. I don't want this to happen again! Please, how can I avoid spending my money?!

    I don't know exactly what you're spending your money on so I can't give you a clue. I can say to get out there and work more or again. Working is the answer to buying things.

You must have will power. I know that is easier said than done though. Tape a picture of items that you want all over your house .. in the bathroom, on the refrigerator .. anywhere that you go frequently. When you see these pictures they will remind you of what you are wanting and the goals that you are setting for yourself. You will know that if you want them so badly that you won't spend the money you have worked so hard for. Then when you do actually purchase these things you will feel a sense of accomplishment and be able to enjoy them even more!
