I got a check in the mail for $0.00 from my work, what in the world does this mean?
-
I just quit my job, and I have one more check coming to me for the last week of work I did. I got a call from a manager telling me that I had to come in and sign some paperwork before I could get my last check. The new check should have come in on the evening of Thursday, Sept 25th, and I was supposed to come in on Friday or any day after to pick up my last check and sign the paperwork. However I got a check in the mail from work, with no message or explanation, for $0.00. The check said it was for the 13 hours of work I did from the period of 9/14 to 9/20, my last week at work. The stamp on the top right of the outside of the letter is marked 9/23. In the pay amount it says $0.00, and under that where it is usually written (e.g. two hundred dollars and 50/100 cents) is written "***VOID****". I am obviously going into work tomorrow to ask for an explanation, because clearly I did 13 hours of work and I should get paid for it. i was just wondering if anyone had an explanation as to what the heck this mysterious check for no money is all about. Thanks!!!

Answer:
It means they have a dumb computer and even 'stupider' programmer. Unfortunately for you, they will tell you: "It is a computer error." If you do not know the answer blame the computer, he can't answer back. Peace. P.S. Frame the check! Lucky for you, you left those nincompoops.

Were you set up for direct deposit? Void checks are issued with those.
