Can I do all my banking domestically from a bank overseas?

Do you do online banking? Can you move funds from your loan accounts into your current account with your bank?

• We've been doing online banking for years. We have two loan accounts and each week the bank automatically takes x amount from my current account and puts it into my respective loan accounts to pay down the loans. I never realised until yesterday that I can access the loan accounts and transfer money in or out myself.Just to test it I tranferred a tiny amount from one of my loan accounts into my current account and back again. Huh, I would have assumed the bank would have blocked someone being able to do that? In a certain circumstance it could be tempting for someone to say transfer all the money in their loan accounts (money already repaid) to their current account or to a third party account, withdraw and walk away. Can you do that through your online banking? Thanks.

  I too would have assumed that you couldn't take funds from a loan account - that would be like increasing your loan without authorisation. However, I can't test it for you as I don't trust online banking - and after someone hacked access to my computer recently, I'm glad I have no sensitive information there.
