Answer:
Does your school have a student health center. If so go there. See if there are any free dental clinics in your area. Our local community college has a dental school.

If you can ask a question in Yahoo Answers then you aren't a candidate for an ER. That would be irresponsible. Go to an urgent care center. You may need antibiotics and having an infection spread to your brain would be bad.
First, this is probably not something that can be fully addressed in an ER. If you go to an ER, you are going to have to pay an ER bill of between $200 and $10,000, and you will still need to go to a dentist. Second, you do not need insurance to go to a dentist. You do need to pay the dentist a small amount, but much less than an ER costs (even with insurance, an ER costs more than a dentist costs without insurance). Third, even if you could get dental insurance, it would not cover the entire cost, and you would have to pay something. Adding the cost of the "low cost" dental insurance plus what you would have to pay to get this treated with the "low cost" dental insurance, you would probably be paying more altogether than if you did not get the insurance. If you have a lot of money to waste, then you may decide to give it to the ER and the insurance company. But if cash is tight and you need to spend as little money as possible, then just go to a dentist.
If you go to the ER, they'll take an Xray, let a doctor look in your mouth, charge you $1,000, and tell you to go see a dentist. Dental insurance doesn't work the way you think it works. I'd strongly suggest two things: 1. if you only want to go to the doctor or dentist if someone ELSE has to pay for it, you don't want to go badly enough and 2. you should probably check out some local dental schools, for cheap dental care, done by students, supervised by real dentists, with lots of other students standing around watching. It's not free, but it's as cheap as it gets.
