What are coverage characteristics of health insurance?

What is the normal coverage characteristics of health insurance?

  • Answer:

There is no "normal". There is no average. There is no typical. There are thousands of differences, each policy can be tailor written to cover what you WANT to cover. You can't even say that "they pay on your behalf" typically, because some policies don't - they're on a reimbursement basis. **Ah, ok. Tom is right. They only ever cover stuff that's "medically necessary". And they only ever cover medical procedures done by someone licensed to perform them.**

Medical Necessity

there are a lot of different types of coverage and the most important i think should be: hospitalisation bills (cover the deductible and co-insurance if possible), medical reimbursement and daily hospital income. some define coverage for critical illnesses as health insurance and i think this is important too. accidental coverage is also important and i will also make sure there is medical reimbursement benefit.
