Can i open two current accounts at Natwest?

Can a collection agency still expect reimbursement on accounts after two years?

  • I posed an earlier question regarding accounts that were assigned to a collection agency and whether or not we could fire them. One of the answers stated that it would depend on our contract. I did locate one and it states that we can cancel the accounts with them but that they reserve the right to charge a fee for reimbursement of time and materials expended to date. My question now is, if we have sent them correspondence in July of 2009 requesting an update as to the status of the accounts and we have not received any payment since 2008 on only two of the accounts and no status, are we still going to be responsible for "reimbursement" or, would this be considered a breach of contract.

  • Answer:

Yes, two years isn't really all that long, in the collection agency world. You have no guarantee of payment. You do have reasonable request of status update, UNLESS the ownership of the account has been transferred to the collection agency, which is actually the norm.
