Banker's life, or other...where you have to pay for training and then go out and sell? is it worth it? what about the Pyramid scheme jobs? where you have to get other people to earn more???

Answer:
It's worked out for many, many people...it just hasn't for more though. Avoid the pyramid scheme people. If you want to give the industry a try, then start off in the right place selling competitive products.

Ive work for American Income Life and it is very very hard. For 1 the company doesn't care because they have no money invested in you, two you pay all cost associated with licensing and start up money for gas, three it takes a long time with out making money before you get you license and then training. I would not recommend it at all.

I have answered this question many times. Selling as an agent for insurance is very tough, as it is all 100% commission, no salary. All costs associated with setting up your business, will come from your savings. You will have training to pass the life & health exam, and some companies will charge you for this. Bankers Life will give you deadlines for selling a minimum of policies. Not easy, and most people fail. Aflac will not do this, but will send you out to cold call the business phone book, unless you know multi businesses just waiting for you to sell the owners policies. Primerica is the ultimate pyramid scheme so beware. The pyramid comes when you sell a policy, and ask the person who bought from you who they recommend, and so on and so on. Word of mouth is the pyramid. Less than 1% of people selling insurance will actually make a lot of money, 97% will fail within the first few weeks/days. Also keep in mind that in this economy where the unemployment rate is 9.4%, homes have decreased up to 50% in value, and people's IRA's and 401K's have followed, who will you sell to? Next to car salesmen, insurance agents are the least respected.
