I lost my social security card.

Lost social security card...advise?

  • I lost my wallet..had my social security card and drivers license in it...along with other vidal things...what can I do to report my social security card is lost...I know how to get a new one...but I need to know where or who besides police I can report this to so nobody steals my identity???

    2 ways to do this....The drastic way is to put fraud alerts on your credit files...this would stop any attempt at ID theft. The other way is just to keep an eye on your credit files for the next 6 or so months.

call social security and i;m sure they will tell you what to do next. i think if it were me, i would invest in one of those protection services to monitor your accounts at least for awhile. usually by the time you find out something is wrong, it takes a ton of work and money to fix it. the ones who have norton 360 to monitor your computer also have a plan for monitoring your credit. i like the computer one a lot, think the other one might just be what you are looking for.

You cannot make it imposible for your identity to be stolen. At best, you can make somewhat more difficult to steal. To make it more difficult, but not impossible, put a "credit freeze" on each of your credit reports.
