How can I use the blank check sent to me from my credit card for balance transfers?

  • I applied for a wells fargo credit card in CA to do balance transfers (limit of 5) and when I received my credit card in the mail, it came with it a blank check for me to "take advantage of my 0% Introductory balance transfer APR and use this check today." now, I want to pay off my bank of America credit card with this check but I know that sending this check through the mail will take forever for it to pay my BofA card. Can I just write the check out to myself, deposit it into my BofA checking account and pay the credit card?

    It shouldn't take more than 5 business days for mail to get to the credit card remittance address. Writing the check to yourself and depositing it in your BoA account really won't be faster as BoA will likely put a 7 day hold on that check waiting for it to clear. Sometimes the direct route is the most efficient.

Usually you can and the best thing is you write one check and have just one fee then pay everyone off. Some offers though do not allow checks to non businesses so you have to ask the issuer
