What is a pre paid credit card?

Can I use my debit card in Europe? If not what is a good pre-paid debit/credit card?

  • I am going to Europe in September and was wondering if I could use my debit card there? I am always hearing you need a credit card but I prefer to pay for things as they happen and I only have a small limit on my credit card. If I can not use my debit card over there from my checking account, is there any good pre-paid credit cards out there anyone recommends? Thank you!

  • Answer:

You need a credit card. You just have to control yourself - you can do this. Capital one offers one with no foreign transaction fees I think Citi also has one - google credit cards with no foreign transaction fees You are a world traveler. You can trust yourself with a credit card !!! Anything else is likely to give you problems

YOu have to contact your bank. Somebanks allow foreign charges in foreign currency and some don't I got a new creit card when I lived in Brazil from Citi Bank because they have a presence in braqzil and I had no trouble haveing charges converted at a 1% charge for the privilege.
