Is 19 credit hours too much?

Late payment on my first credit card!!?

• I am a 19 year old college student with no credit history. I just got my first credit card with best buy which is through hsbc. The charge is 200 dollars, my credit card info was sent to my house 8 hours away, I just got home and took a look at my mail to find out I missed my payment. I realize how stupid it was to forget about this. I'm only late by about 9 or ten days. How bad will this affect my credit history. I was already penalized with a 30% interest (it was interest free) and a 25 dollar fine. I'm pretty concerned because I have no credit history to back my credit score. I read a few articles and some said that as long as it was payed within 30 days it wont hurt me too bad, but that's assuming there is a credit history.

  yes cameron, missing one payment as small as that one will not permanently damage your credit score. but if you keep missing payments consistently, this might do some damage over time. what i have been doing is making a list of all my bills, with credit cards repayments at the top, and paying them all at once as soon as i am paid. this makes it a lot easier to keep ahead on all my payments. i learnt these simple tricks from the site below and i am sure you would benefit from reading it, so you gain some experience about making the most of your credit card.
