Can Debt Collectors charge you fee for making a card payment over the phone?

  • Roxburghe idiots decided to charge me 1.71p for making payment over the phone with my debit card? Surely this shouldn't be allowed! Or at least I should have been notified? I mean I am making the payment at the end of the day!

    Yep Most businesses now will charge you a fee to make a payment over the phone with a live operator. If you use the automated payment system, you shouldn't be charged.

Yes, they can. It is also pretty foolish of you to give them your debit card number. They now have direct access to your bank account. You might take more than you authorized, duplicate payments, early payment ..... You should always get a settlement agreement in writing before paying a cent to a collection agency. NEVER give them direct access to your bank acocunt.

Debt collectors are just blood thirsty geeks. They will bleed the life out of your paycheck.You will never hear the end of this payment plan.You were an idiot for making payments to them. NEVER,EVER MAKE A DEAL WITH DEBT COLLECTORS!!! Sorry, i just hate these scum bags. They've been calling me for three years now,haven't paid a dime.
