How do I withdraw money from my credit card in Peru?

• Currently, I am in Peru and will be until the end of March. I have only been using my debit card, but now I need to tap into one of my credit cards. I called the credit card company to inform them of my stay so it won't get declined when I use it. I need to withdraw cash from it, but I am unsure of my PIN number. I realize that this is something I should have done BEFORE I left the country, but it's too late now, so please save your scolding. Anyway, I need to withdraw cash from my card and am unsure of my PIN. The woman over the phone said that I can still withdraw money from it without my PIN as long as I have identification when I go to the bank. So....now I'm just a little confused as to how to go about this. Do I have to walk up to a bank teller, present my credit card and ID, and withdraw cash that way? It just seems a little strange... Also, I may even know my PIN. It's one of two codes...should I just try using those at an ATM? What do you do in a situation like this? Please help because I need to withdraw cash within the next day or so. Thanks!

  Well - live and learn - Go to an American bank if you can find one - go to a teller and tell them you want to get a cash withdrawal on your credit card - tell them that you have talked with the credit card company - and about your nor remembering your PIN - but that you have an idea - and let her try it for you -- If you try and it is "declined" - they may not let another transaction fo through -- BUT -- I would first call the CC company back - and ask if they will verify your PIN number - the one you think it is - If they will verify it - then you shouldn't have a problem -- Just be careful where you use it - As a friend on mine's number got "stolen" in Ireland - and they had a mess when they got home - Good luck -
