How do I add/use my American Express gift card on Paypal?

American express problem with gift card/paypal?

• I try to add my Amex(american express) 100$ gift card on paypal yet I keep getting a "Unable to verify this card" error. But they were able to charge my card each time I did that (10 times now). So I tried to figure out the issue.. I can see my balance on American express.com , yet I cant register a account, I keep getting "We're currently experiencing technical difficulties. You can also call the 1-800-AXP-1234 for immediate assistance." So I call that number , it only tells me my balance. Call customer service, they tell me the only help people with credit cards. So here I am stuck and unable to use this card to pay someone on Paypal. Any advice? Been having 'technical difficulties' on american express for 2 days.

  The good news: those are "pending transactions" because they tried to run the charge, but it got declined. So after a few days, the pending transactions should be erased. The bad news: there is only one pre-paid card that I know of that you can upload on PayPal which is GreenDot's Money Pak. If you buy any other pre-paid card, it won't work UNLESS it says something to the effect that you can upload it to PayPal. You will keep getting an unable to validate the card if it's a pre-paid card, UNLESS it's MoneyDot's Money Pak. Here is their website: https://www.moneypak.com/ Alternatively, you can use an eBay gift card to use via PayPal. You could also add your checking or savings account to pay via PayPal, too.
