Why won't Walmart cash my payroll check?

If you cash a payroll check does it say that the check was cashed at Walmart or just as a check clearing?

  • Answer:

the where it was cashed is in the endorsements on the back. most employers never look at their returned checks unless there is something wrong [ie -- unless you complain that it was stolen and forged].

The back would be stamped by whatever bank Walmart uses. It may say Walmart and the store # because when they run the check through the check reader it prints out info on the back as to the account number and bank they use to deposit checks.

Wal-mart would endorse the check on the back just like you do when you are the payee. Any business or bank that processes the check will endorse the back of it. It's not uncommon to see several endorsements on the back of the check. From that, it can be determined where the check was cashed.

Usually just says the check number and that it is clearing. Never says where it was cashed.
