How can i remove a tax lien from my credit report?

  • The state of missouri place a tax lien against me, even though the business never opened. And i did what the clerk told me. They have it as released and paid, when i never paid it. They said they would take it out because they saw It as a mistake but it on my credit report.

  • Answer:

Well, from you have written it sounds like it's not accurate which means that it's going to be much easier to have it removed from your credit file. You should get the clerk to give you all the proof and documentation that the lien is not valid. You then need to send that to all three credit bureaus and they will respond to you pretty fast. Make sure you get the proof from the clerk. Best of luck.

Other answers

You will have to get written documentation from the state that the lien was a "mistake" and then submit that to the credit bureaus.

Do you have a letter from Missouri stating that they were going to remove it, if so send this to the credit reporting company registered mail. If not, get a letter from Missouri stating that they do not have a tax lien against you.

Send proof of the release to the credit bureaus.
