What is better a electric key meter or quartely payments?

I have a pre payment meter and changed supplyers a few times and the old company say i owe money!!?

• ive got a pre payment gas/elec meter ive changed a few times and now the old company say i owe them money because, they have no record of payment, but i have payed. the payments have been credited to a different supplyer thats not my fault. but do i have to pay just because they cant find payments. i wouldnt be able to use my eletrical good or run a bath or cook with no elec or gas, if i hadnt of bought elec and gas.

That's the easiest way to prove when you paid a bill - a cashed check will have their stamp or signature on the reverse. If you paid by another means, do you have a receipt for your payment?
