Does a bank account manager receive a commission if approving credit card account?

  • I went to open a savings account yesterday and the manager kept pushed me to get a credit card, i have been pre-approved, even though I specifically told her I don't want it. Despite this she confirmed the account without my consent and I had to call the customer service to have it closed the next day. I am starting to wonder if she did this intentionally for commission. Anyone works in a bank industry could confirm this for me.

    At Kohl's the cashiers can get up to $10 a day if they get enough customers to open credit cards. (or at least they used to). Same with JcPenny. So, I'm pretty sure it's the same with banks. If they call you at home, trying to push other products, tell them you would like to be taken off their solicitation and promotional mailings list...

At Bank of America, I looked at an employee's computer monitor and saw a piece of paper attached saying how many accounts of different types they were supposed to open. It was not a "commission" per account. It was a minimum number and if they did not achieve that then they were not doing their job well enough to satisfy the company.

If I had this experience I would definitely talk to the branch manager, going even higher if necessary. It is not acceptable.

don't think they get a commission but they do have a quota they have to fill.
