In Canada would I be able to use my Student Card as valid ID?

Can I use a credit card I got in Canada in Japan?

  • It's kind of complicated . . . I'm an international student from Japan studying in Canada. While here, I applied for a credit card from TD Canada Trust (although I haven't received it yet, it was approved); it's Visa. Since I'm an international student with no income, it'll be a secured card for $1000. I was thinking . . . when I go back to Japan in the summer, it's likely that I'll need to repair my laptop/buy a new one. But all my money is in a bank account here in Canada at TD. I was hoping that, since it's a type of Visa card, I could use the card I'll get even in Japan? Is this possible? Also, the thing is that my credit card will be secured for $1000 because here, the only time I would use it is for an emergency. But a new computer would probably be more than $2000. That means I wouldn't be able to use the supposed credit card for a payment that big, anyway, right?
