What is a transparent order?

Credit card scam on my order...what do you think?

  • I ordered a black sabbath shirt from this record shop over the internet. the next day i received an e-mail saying this from the company: "Thanks for your order and sorry for this problem. For some reason only the first four and last four numbers of your credit card info arrived to us. I don't want you to have to re-send this order (although you can do this if you choose), so if possible to reply to this email with your middle 8 numbers of the cc you are using for this order. Everything else seems fine on the order and I'm looking into this with my webmaster now. We receive cc info separately from the order forms for security reasons and for some reason your order did not come through as it should have." Honestly, I think he tried to scam me but I'm not totally sure. What do I do now since I placed the order? Did it actually go through and charge me? What if he doesn't send the shirt? Oh yeah, and how can I find out if I've been charged for it?

  • Answer:

Sounds like a scam....Call your credit card company I work for a long distance service and for security reasons only the first 4 and last 4 numbers are ever displayed on our system...So....only the manager of our company has access to the other numbers...High security....Who ever sent you this e-mail saw only XXXX XXXX in between...and they also have your expery date DO NOT GIVE THESE people your credit card number...Sounds like an employee who is trying to do a bit of scamming, or a hacker, who can only see some of the numbers due to security.... ALSO....any errors regarding credit card numbers...the customer is called over the telephone.......if the company is legit Don't get "sucked in" !!!!! If you have provided the info, call your credit card company IMMEDIATELY and advise and cancel your number..... Good Luck

Before you do anything else, call the number on your credit card, and ask them to check recent transactions. That way you'll know whether or not you've been charged for the shirt. If you haven't been charged (and you still want the shirt), CALL the shirt selling company at the number on their web site (don't email them or call a number they emailed you unless it's the same) and give them your credit card info over the phone - that's more secure than emailing it. On the other hand, if you HAVE been charged, then call the company to tell them that, and maybe also to cancel your order if that's what you want to do.

call your credit card company. then pick up the phone and call the place you ordered the shirt from. If it is legit, they will have a legit phone and someone answering.

You call your credit card company. Sounds fishy... they will tell you if there has been any charges on your card.. you can even dispute it if you have to..

You should be able to access your account online to see if you were charged for this shirt.
