How do you find out if a website is safe to use your credit card for a purchase ?

How do you find out if a website is safe to use your credit card for a purchase ? I dont know if its safe to purchase products at a website that has a PO box address , plus if I haven't purchased from them before I get worried about my credit cards information . Are there any ways to find out if a website is real , or just some people tryna get cc numbers ? ALL sites says all transactions made at their website are 100% safe blah blah blah , but youknow , how do I know thats true ? :(

Look for independent confirmation that they are reliable. Check the web for people talking about the store. See if the Better Business Bureau has a report on them. Search for complaints at consumer web sites. And don't forget that the bank has your back if they do try to rip you off.
