How can I get out having my credit card charged for an item that I do not want?
-
I happened upon an online scam today. I saw a commercial on TV for the Orgreenic frying pans and while I have never placed an order for an "as seen on TV" item, I was interested in this one. I thought that I would at least check into the shipping cost to get the American product shipped to to Canada. The offer was for 2 frying pans for $19.99 as per the commercial. I went onto https://www.orgreenic.com/?uid=A310588EA0D8A437D86E11922BDA4B35#formlink and chose the Orgreenic Saute Pan option because I do not want the entire set. I filled out the information requested and clicked on the Begin Order button so that I would be taken to a page where the order total is described in which case I could confirm whether or not I would like to proceed. After I clicked on the Begin Order I was then taken to a page saying that my order is confirmed and to expect my shipment of THE ENTIRE SET in 3-6 weeks and my first of 6 payments was to be $49.99. I noticed after that if you hover over the animated Begin Order button a small greyed out box comes up that says Process Order on it, which is completely misleading. I phoned the call center and asked them to cancel this order, I was told that the order would not show up in their system for 72 hours. I read someone else's ordeal online and their story is the same jup to this point but after 72 hours they called in to cancel the order to be told that the order is not in their system yet, the pots showed up that same day though. They sent me no order confirmation via email and there is no way to contact this company online, only via the call center. I really do not want this item, if I phone and cancel my credit card or block this vendor will they send it anyways and then send collections after me? I hate this kind of thing, why do we live in a world where people make their money based on tactics that lack any and all integrity.

Answer:
Worst case scenario: if the pots show up at your door do NOT SIGN FOR THEM! Make sure no one in your household takes possesion of the pots. First you can't be charged for an item you did not recieve. Next: Call your credit card company, explain what happened, and ask to be alerted when/if you are charged for the item. Most banks will help you deal with this issue and may refuse the charge when they try to process it. Then, calling their customer service line and loudly insisting that the charge be reversed is the next step.
