Paypal refund question?

Question about ebay refund, faulty item, paypal?

  • so i sold a broken smartphone marked as 'selling for parts only faulty' the only things wrong with item i was aware of were faulty screen and digitizer, and was told this by two different phone shops and it would cost £100 to fix. because i was due upgrade anyway i just sold it as faulty parts only but only mentioned screen and digitizer in my description, sent the item recorded, everything was fine. over 2 weeks later i received an ebay message from the buyer saying that there was damage to the wifi module and antena also and that he wanted a £15 refund for this. after some thought i agreed. just to save the fuss even though i was selling for parts only. i have tried to issue refund and sent the buyer a message to say its going into his account but stated it would take 5-7 woking days, but received a message today (the 5th day) saying that the refund failed? and so i sent the buyer a further email telling him this has happened and i had no idea why but id send the money to him as if i were paying for an item. i have had no responses whatsoever from the buyer and so im at a loss at what to do? if i were to pay him without going via refund route could i still prove id refunded him if he were to maybe open a case? im lost !!

  • Answer:

Get in touch with ebay and explain you've got a problem. Do NOT refund other than via the original transaction.
