What's it like to work at Starbucks?

Starbucks promotes socialism?

  • I was working as a cashier at Target today and in the target I work at we just added a starbucks. Some lady came through my line and said she was never going to shop at target again because we had a starbucks and they promote socialism. She was extremely rude and ignorant while I was checking her out so I pretty much ignored her and said have a nice day. I just thought she was some ideological nutbag. It did spark my interest though (thought it was kinda funny) and when i got home i googled it and found a pic of people picketing outside of a starbucks with stop socialism signs. So whats the whole deal with this? Are these just people that have nothing better to do or did starbucks do something that pissed a few crazies off. Thanks

    It's a profitable business not some political social or ideological magic building man, don't trip. People are just nuts. They feel that they gotta speak out against something because in reality they mean nothing.

Starbucks always believed that businesses can - and should - have a positive impact on the communities they serve. If that is socialism, then it doesn’t sound so bad to me. If people don’t like it, they have a right to avoid Starbucks and make their own views known. People who want to change things are not necessarily crazy – I like to think of them as the ‘cutting edge’ of society. The rest of society can and should judge and then back the opinions that they agree with. Pushing for change is necessary to ensure that society's norms progress and do not get taken over by crazy people!
